DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson freshman Emma Sissman of the women's lacrosse team capped off her outstanding first year by being named to the 2013 Jewish Sports Review Women's College All-America Lacrosse Team in the July/August edition of the Jewish Sports Review.
She becomes the third Wildcat in the past four years to earn a spot on the JSR All-America teams, joining Charlie Reiter (2009, Men's Soccer) and Jake Cohen (2011, Men's Basketball).
Sissman, who is the lone freshman on this year's lacrosse all-america team, was one of Davidson's top offensive players in 2013. She finished fourth on the team with 28 goals and added six assists for 34 points. The Baltimore, Md., native tallied nine multi-goal games, including scoring three goals in a game three different times throughout the year. Sissman scored a season-best four goals in a home win against Kennesaw State and scored at least one goal in all but four of her games.
The freshman helped the Wildcats handle the draw control, pulling in a team-best 64, which was good for the second-most in a single-season. Sissman ranked second in the Big South in draw controls and 32nd overall in the nation.
The midfielder started all 18 of the Wildcats' games in helping them to one of their best seasons in program history. The 'Cats captured the inaugural Big South Women's Lacrosse Regular Season title by going a perfect 7-0 in the league and advanced to the tournament championship game. Davidson finished with an 11-7 record to tie the school mark set in 2008 for most wins in a season. On its way to the 11 wins, the Wildcats rattled off a program-best seven-game win streak and tied the 2008 record for most home wins in a season with eight.
