DAVIDSON, N.C. — Thirteen of Davidson's athletic teams were honored by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) with the Academic Progress Report (APR) Public Recognition award as announced Wednesday.
The accolade is given by the NCAA to teams that earned multiple APR scores in the top 10 percent for the past four years. The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports. The public recognition awards are part of the overall Division I academic reform effort.
Davidson teams earning the award were:
Baseball
Football
Men's Basketball
Men's Tennis
Wrestling
Women's Basketball
Women's Cross Country

“Once again, our record of success is a result of significant collaboration between our students, faculty and coaches,” said Director of Athletics Jim Murphy. “We are very proud to be honored by the NCAA for our Academic Progress Rate consistency.”
Davidson College was one of eight programs in the Southern Conference with multiple programs earning the honor and led the SoCon with 10 teams. The Wildcats are also one of just 61 NCAA Division I programs nationally to be recognized each of the eight years of the program.
