DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson head football coach Paul Nichols announced nine additional recruits to the Class of 2017 Friday, bringing the total to 26 student-athletes.
Overall the future Wildcats hail from 10 different states with North Carolina (6), Georgia (4), Texas (4) and Virginia (3) garnering the most representation.
“We are very excited with the additional recruits joining our incoming class,” said first-year head coach and Davidson football alumnus Paul Nichols. “This recruiting class adds significant value to Davidson College, and is poised to help our program become an annual championship contender. It is a privilege to have these young men and their families join our program.”
The latest additions include six projected to play on offense and three on defense, giving the class a total of 13 on both sides of the ball.
Of the 26 newcomers, Grant Polofsky, a two-time all-conference, all-county and all-state defensive end from Butler High School in Charlotte, is the lone local product. The furthest-traveling is wide receiver Tom Scheper, who hails from Pasadena, Calif. (St. Francis.) Three others in the class were all-state players, including quarterback John Cook (North Raleigh Christian Academy/Raleigh, N.C.) and defensive backs Ryan Felice (Mount Pisgah Christian/Alpharetta, Ga.) and Ben Kase (Flint Hill/Oakton Va.)
“Our staff looks forward to coaching and mentoring these young men over the course of the next four years,” said Nichols.
The entire class is listed below. Those not announced previously in February are indicated by italics font.
