Men’s Golf Set to Host Irish Creek Collegiate this Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson, Charlotte and the Charlotte Sports Foundation will serve as hosts of the 2013 Irish Creek Collegiate Saturday and Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis.
The 54-hole tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both days, including 36 holes Saturday.
In addition to the Wildcats and 49ers, the 17-team event will include Akron, Appalachian State, East Carolina, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Marshall, Mercer, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Richmond, UNC Wilmington, VCU and Xavier.
Through seven events this season, Davidson has recorded a pair of wins, four top-five finishes and seven Top-10s.
Samuel Echikson, who captured the Davidson College Invitational individual title earlier this spring, leads the Wildcats with a 74.65 stroke average. Richard Fountain (75.12) and John Skeadas III (75.88) have also been solid combining for six Top-10 finishes in 2012-13.
The Club at Irish Creek is the third course to host the event, which will be in its 16th year of competition.
This weekend's event is the final tune up for the Wildcats before heading to the 2013 Southern Conference Championship April 21-23 at Daniel Island, S.C.
