DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball opens its Southern Conference slate hosting Appalachian State at Wilson Field for a three-game series starting Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday's game has been moved two hours earlier to 4 p.m.
The Saturday game was moved earlier due to expected cold temperatures.

Davidson (4-2) has won four out of five home contests to start the season. Senior Andrew Barna enters the game as the SoCon's top hitter with a .520 average. He batted .615 (8-for-13) in three games over the weekend, and hit his first home run since his sophomore season. Freshman Lee Miller has been Davidson's top power hitter as he hit his third home run in just his fifth career game. His .952 slugging percentage (second) and .429 batting (t-7th) both rank in the top-10 in the SoCon. As a team, Davidson is batting .313 to rank second in the league.
Scouting the Mountaineers
Appalachian State (5-1) is coming off a five-game homestand and embarking on a nine-game road stint. The Mountaineers are averaging 7.7 runs per game through six contests. Swinging the hottest bat for Appalachian is first baseman Alex Leach, who is hitting .500 (10-for-20) with 12 RBI and eight runs scored over the last five ballgames. He leads the league with a .958 slugging percentage. The Mountaineers are the defending SoCon Champions and have a victory over No. 8 NC State.
