Round One Results
HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Behind senior John Skeadas III's opening round one-over 73, the Davidson men's golf team sits in a tie for sixth place following day one of the Wexford Plantation Collegiate hosted by Francis Marion.
Frost delayed the start of round one by an hour, so the 18-team field was unable to complete Monday's scheduled second round.
The second round will be completed Tuesday morning followed by the final 18 holes on the 6,828-yard, par 72 Wexford Plantation layout designed by Arnold Palmer.
Skeadas is currently tied for 12th just two strokes clear of teammates Richard Fountain and Samuel Echikson, who are tied for 24th.
As a team, Davidson recorded a 299 and is just eight swings off the lead, which is held by the tournament host.
Also competing for the Wildcats are Ralph Blasey and David Sargent, who carded scores of 76 and 77, respectively.
South Florida's Ted Valentine fired just one of six sub-par rounds Monday and holds the individual lead following a three-under 69.
In addition to Wildcats and host Patriots, this year's field includes Campbell, Connecticut, Dayton, DePaul, Elon, Georgia Southern, Ohio, Presbyterian College, Radford, Richmond, Samford, USC Aiken, South Florida, Western Carolina, William & Mary, and defending team champion Georgia State.
