DAVIDSON, N.C. – Nathan Tenpas (Chevy Chase, Md./Chevy Chase) and Spencer Papciak (Dunwoody, Ga./Rivers Academy) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Davidson men's golf team in 2014, as announced by head coach Tim Straub Tuesday.
"I am very excited to have Nathan and Spencer join our golf team next year," said Straub. "They are both tremendous student-athletes who have excelled both on the golf course and in the classroom. I know both will be great additions to our golf team and the Davidson College community."
Ranked the top player in Maryland and 47th nationally by the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), Tenpas finished third in the 2014 Bubba Conlee Junior Championship, which is one of MidSouth's best junior events. In addition to being an AJGA HP Scholastic Junior All-American, he is a two-time member of the Maryland Williamson Cup Team.
Papciak, who has five Top-15 finishes in AJGA events, including a win at the SJGT Heath Slocum Invitational, is currently ranked ninth in Georgia and 144th in the country. His work in the classroom has also been impressive, earning a spot on the AJGA Academic Honor Roll.
Davidson, which finished the fall with a pair of Top-5 finishes, will enjoy a four-month break from tournament action before opening its spring slate at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Feb. 17-18 in Mobile, Ala.
