GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman's Carlie Couch had two goals and added an assist in the first half in leading the Paladins' past Davidson Sunday afternoon, 3-1, at Stone Soccer Stadium in women's soccer Southern Conference action.

Couch's five points helped Furman improve to 13-3-2 overall and remain in first with a league mark of 7-1-1. Davidson slipped to 5-10-4 overall and 3-5-1 in SoCon action as it fights for one of the remaining slots to reach the SoCon Tournament next weekend. The top-eight teams advance.

Dani Johnson scored the Wildcats lone goal on the day on a penalty kick at the 67:37 mark. All three of her goals this year have come on PKs.

Furman struck early with a score six minutes into the contest when Couch hit a shot from 14 yards out to the left corner.

She assisted on the Paladins' second goal in the 29th minute, sending a pass to Stephanie DeVita in the middle of the box as DeVita put in her team-leading 12th goal of the year.

Couch finished off the first-half scoring for Furman with a shot to the far corner on a breakaway at 30:58.

Rachel Locke took the defeat in goal as she stopped eight shots in 90 minutes. Furman's Rose Hull was credited with her ninth win of the season and had a pair of saves.

Davidson concludes the regular season with a trip to Statesboro, Ga., where it faces Georgia Southern, Oct. 30. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
