Patrick Tabbed for Preseason All-SoCon Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Scott Patrick earned preseason all-conference honors and the Davidson wrestling team was picked to finish seventh in the Southern Conference as announced by the league Thursday morning. The head coaches in the conference voted upon both poll and all-conference team.
Patrick was selected to the all-conference team in the 184-pound weight class. The Ellicot City, Md., native posted a 19-10 overall record with five pins at 184-pounds in 2012-13 and added another victory at 197-pounds. He went 3-4 in regular season SoCon action and fell in the first round of the SoCon tournament before winning three straight to take third place overall.
Defending champion Chattanooga was picked to win the league, claiming four first-place votes and a total of 46 points. Appalachian State earned two first place votes and a total of 42 points, while The Citadel also got two first place votes and was tabbed third with 41 total points.
Gardner-Webb (28 points) was picked fourth, followed by Campbell (27) in fifth. SIUE (19) was picked sixth, one spot ahead of the Wildcats, who were given 12 points in the poll. VMI rounded out the league in eighth with nine points.
Davidson opens the 2013-14 season Sunday, Nov. 3, when they travel to nearby Belmont Abbey.
