DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson returns home after more than a month on the road to host in-state rival and NorPac foe Appalachian State in a 6:30 p.m. game at Belk Turf Field.
IT'S BEEN AWHILE
The Wildcats play their first game in Davidson since Sept. 6, when they defeated Vermont, 3-2, in overtime. The 'Cats have played nine games on the road, compiling a 1-8 record on that swing. Davidson is 5-6 at home in the last two seasons and will look to defend their turf five more times this season, including this Friday's match up with App. State.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
The Mountaineers enter the contest 2-9 overall with a 1-2 NorPac record, with wins against Davidson (2-1) and Vermont (4-3). Lindsay Amador leads the team in scoring with three goals and two assists for eight points, while Caroline Phillips has also tallied three goals on the season. Sarah Anderson has been the team's primary keeper this season with a 7.29 GAA and .685 save percentage.
LAST TIME…
The two teams previously met Sept. 17 with the Mountaineers taking a 2-1 victory from the Wildcats in Boone, N.C. Amador and Jordyn Warren each notched a goal for App. State, while Anderson came up with seven stops. Melissa Funsten scored the 'Cats lone goal of the game.
ENGLISH, DAVIS HONORED
Davidson has claimed a pair of NorPac honors in recent weeks. Anna Davis was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 30 for posting a goal and an assist as the team went 1-1 vs. Siena and VCU. Katherine English earned NorPac East Rookie honors the following week for notching a goal in the team's match vs. Longwood.
NEXT UP…
The 'Cats will make it two in a row at home, hosting James Madison Oct. 18 at Belk Turf Field. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
