PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Lock Haven and No. 15 Pittsburgh both defeated Davidson, 31-6 and 39-6, respectively, in non-conference wrestling action Sunday at the Pitt Duals in Fitzgerald Field House.
Sophomores Anthony Elias (133 pounds) and Ian Solcz (174 pounds) earned the lone victories for Davidson (5-5) against Lock Haven (4-2). Elias also nearly defeated Pitt's No. 15 Shelton Mack, but was defeated in overtime, 3-1.
Elias' 6-3 decision over Matt Bryer pulled Davidson within one after the Bobby Rehm scored a major decision for the Bald Eagles at 125 pounds, but Lock Haven claimed the next four bouts, including a technical fall by Dan Neff at 141 pounds, to open a 19-3 lead. Solcz defeated Tyler Wood, 3-2, at 174, but the Bald Eagles concluded the match with a pair of decisions and pin at heavyweight by Harry Turner.
