Funsten Named Preseason All-America

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson football wide receiver Lanny Funsten has been named Preseason All-America by two publications.
The senior was named third-team Preseason All-America by The Sports Network and earned second-team honors from BeyondSportsCollegeNetwork.com.
Funsten finished the 2011 campaign with 100 receptions, a school record, and became the third player in school history and first since 1972 to collect 1,000 receiving yards in a season (1,107). He led the PFL in receptions and yards, ranking third and eighth, respectively, in NCAA FCS football in those categories.
He caught eight touchdown passes and ranked seventh in the PFL in all-purpose yards. Following the season, Funsten was named first-team All-America by BeyondSportsCollegeNetwork.com and second-team All-Pioneer Football League by the conference's coaches.
The Wildcats return 12 starters and 43 lettermen from last year's squad that went 4-7 overall and 2-6 in the PFL. The 2012 season begins in Richardson Stadium against Georgetown, Sept. 1.
