Mooney Named to CPL All-Star Team

PETERSBURG, Va. - Davidson rising junior RHP Danny Mooney has been selected for the Coastal Plain League's 14th annual All-Star Game, which will will be played at Historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson, N.C. on Monday, July 23.
Mooney will play for the American CPL All-Stars. Both the American and National teams each feature players from 12 CPL clubs, with the players being selected by head coaches and media representatives from all 14 CPL teams.
Each roster has 27 active players on it.
Mooney, one of three players selected from the Petersburg Generals, is 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA in the summer league. He went 1-4, with a 6.40 ERA for Davidson this past season.
The Wilson Tobs, in conjunction with the Coastal Plain League, will host the All-Star Game and festivities beginning on Sunday, July 22 and running through Monday, July 23.
Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. on July 23.
The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 53 alums – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut thus far.
