Sisson Named Louisville Slugger’s National Pitcher of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz. – Davidson LHP Henry Sisson's no-hitter was recognized as the top pitching performance in the nation for the week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, as the publication named him Louisville Slugger's National Pitcher of the Week Monday.
Sisson threw the sixth no-hitter in Davidson history Friday night and the first since 2001, as the Wildcats shut out Wofford, 1-0. The milestone came in just Sisson's fifth career start as he upped his record to 2-1. The Chevy Chase, Md. native and St. Albans School graduate allowed four base runners on three walks and an error and matched his career high of nine strikeouts.
The freshman is the first Wildcat to win a national player of the week honor from Collegiate Baseball since 2009. Nearly three years ago to the day (April 14) then-freshman Drew Gadaire was recognized after hitting four home runs in a game against Gardner-Webb. Sisson is the fifth Wildcat to receive the award and the second pitcher. Wes Self earned the same honor after his season-opening no-hitter in 2001.
Davidson next plays at Duke Tuesday at 6 p.m.
