Davidson Golf Set For Irish Creek Collegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson and Charlotte men's golf teams will co-host the Irish Creek Collegiate, in conjunction with the Charlotte Regional Sports Commission, Saturday and Sunday at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, N.C.

The tournament, which is in its 15th year, is being played on the par-72, 6823-yard, Davis Love III designed course at Irish Creek for the third consecutive year. Joining host institutions Davidson and Charlotte in the competitive 13-team field will be No. 16 Duke, Kansas, No. 21 Kent State, Louisville, Mercer, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Queens, Richmond, VCU and Xavier.
Two 18-hole rounds will be played Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, while the third and final round will take place Sunday.
All rounds are free and open to the public.
Duke won last year's tournament, while Davidson placed 12th led by Sam Echikson in 27th place.
Sophomore Richard Fountain will look to lead the Wildcats this weekend. Fountain has placed in the top five individually in all three of Davidson's spring tournaments this year and was named the Southern Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for February.
