DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson looks to start its quest to a National Lacrosse Conference title when the Wildcats open league play on Saturday vs. Presbyterian at Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (3-5, 0-0 NLC) looks to regroup after a tough defeat last Saturday at Robert Morris when it opens NLC play at 1 p.m. in Richardson Stadium vs. Presbyterian (1-8, 0-0 NLC). The Wildcats are in the midst of playing nine of 10 games at home, which started February 25 and runs to April 1. They have gone 3-4 during the stetch so far.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The two schools have faced each other four times with the Wildcats holding a perfect 4-0 record in the series dating back to 2008. Last year in Clinton, S.C., Davidson earned a 17-11 victory behind Ann Fucigna's six goals and eight points.
Last Time Out...
... Davidson — Up five goals, Davidson was unable to hold off a charging Robert Morris team which comeback in the last 12 minutes to tie the game and then added a single goal in overtime for a 13-12 win over the Wildcats last Saturday afternoon.
Davidson, which had leads of two, three and five, was led by the duo of Ann Fucigna and Emily Cooke with three goals each.
Tied at 7-all, Davidson got on a roll when it scored five straight goals over a four-minute stretch for a 12-7 lead at the 20:42 mark. Rober Morris though held the Wildcats to just three shots the remainder of the half, while starting their comeback. After Emily Rademacher capped off a 5-0 run in the early goings of the second half, the Colonials scored five straight unanswered goals in the last 11:17 to force overtime at 12-all.
... Presbyterian — The Presbyterian Blue Hose women's lacrosse team dropped its final neutral site game of the 2012 regular season on Saturday, falling to Wagner by a 17-10.
Kirstin Stenoien paced the Blue Hose with three goals. Liz Davis tallied three assists, the most for PC in a game this season.
Wagner began the game with five straight goals before Katie Prisco put the Blue Hose on the board with 10:23 left in the half.
Down 9-4 at the break, The Blue Hose charged out of the gate to start the second half, scoring three of the period's first four goals. Davis assisted on PC's next two goals, coming from Beamish and Steonien to narrow PC's deficit to three, 10-7.
After Stenoien's score, Wagner called a timeout and halted the Blue Hose momentum, scoring the next five goals and putting the game out of reach.
