Northwestern Mutual Spotlights Demetrios Pagonis '13

Award recognizes Wildcat student athlete achievements in competition, the classroom and the community.
Northwestern Mutual has partnered with Davidson Athletics to present the Northwestern Mutual Student Athlete Spotlight, which will recognize Wildcat student athletes for their outstanding achievements in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. On Wednesday night, Demetrios Pagonis, a senior on the men's cross country and track teams was recognized during the men's basketball game vs. Charlotte.
Following his sophomore year, Pagonis earned Davidson College's Porter Vinson Chemistry Award, which is given annually to a rising junior who shows unusual mastery of the field of chemistry.
Pagonis has also received several SoCon student-athlete honors and earned a place on the Capital One Academic All-District team.
In competition, he ranks among Davidson's all-time best distance runners, owning several top-10 times in Wildcat history. Pagonis was an all-conference runner in cross country this season, owns the Davidson indoor 3000-meter run record and is the defending indoor SoCon 5000-meter run champion.
A total of four student athletes will be featured throughout the year, including one more male athlete and two female athletes. Northwestern Mutual is dedicated to helping others achieve their full potential, and believes that through preparation, hard work and embracing the spirit of competition, everyone can achieve that potential – in life and in the field of sports.
