BOONE, N.C. – Davidson concluded its six-game road trip and regular season with a 2-0 setback to Appalachian State in Southern Conference men's soccer action Saturday evening at the Ted Mackorell Complex.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 6-10-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the league, while ASU improves to 7-7-3 and 2-3-2.

“Appalachian State's good defensive effort and our inconsistent attacking resulted in too little quality scoring chances,” Davidson head coach Matt Spear said.

For the third time in the last four contests Davidson found itself down 1-0 after a foul in the box led to a successful penalty kick. Kristian Lee-Him's 20th minute score to the lower left corner of goal was his third strike of the season and second difference-maker in as many games.

“The penalty kick was tough because I thought our defending was okay otherwise in the first half.”

With just under nine minutes to play, Appalachian State made it a two-goal contest when Stanley Broaden played the ball back to Luke Adams, who slid a shot inside the far post.

The Mountaineers finished with the advantage in shots and corner kicks.

Matt Pacifici led both goalkeepers with three saves for the Wildcats.

Davidson will enjoy a week break before hitting the road Saturday, Nov. 3 for the opening round of the 2012 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. The Wildcats will find out their quarterfinal opponent and destination at a later date.

“We must stick together and prepare our very best, because it all comes down to the conference tournament," said Spear.
