Davidson W. Lacrosse Adds Five to 2013 Recruiting Class

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson College women's lacrosse head coach Kim Wayne has announced the admittance of five recruits for the 2013 season as part of the Class of 2016. The class is comprised of two defenders and three midfielders who hail from the states of New York, Maryland, Texas and Florida.
“I'm eager to see the impact all five commits will make when they step foot on campus in the fall of 2012.” said Wayne. “They recognize the academic standards that Davidson holds them to, and they exhibit a drive and determination that will take them a long way both on the field and in the classroom. I'm excited to welcome them to the Wildcat family.”
The 2013 Recruiting Class:
•Emma Sissman, 5'8” Midfielder, Baltimore, Md. - Skywalkers
•Lucy Sexton, 5'5” Midfield/attacker, Vero Beach, Fla. – Xteam/Stickbenders
•Maddy Sivilli, 5'6” Midfield/defender, Greenlawn, N.Y. – Long Island Yellow Jackets
•Veronica Fiorino, 5'4” Defender, Reisterstown, Md. – M&D
•Holly Thomas, 5'3” Defender, Houston, Texas - XTeam
Emma Sissman is a three-sport athlete at Friends School of Baltimore. As a four-year varsity player in the midfield, and a captain during her junior campaign, she has accumulated 226 points (132 goals and 94 assists) and earned all-conference during her sophomore and junior years. She played on the Baltimore 3 team that won the 2010 National Tournament. Sissman is also a four-year varsity member for the Quakes soccer and basketball team. She captained her soccer and basketball teams her junior year and was named all-conference both her sophomore and junior seasons in basketball.
Lucy Sexton is an attacking midfielder who is entering her fourth season of lacrosse at Vero Beach High School. The Florida native lead Vero Beach to an undefeated season for a second straight year and its sixth straight state championship. Sexton was named first-team all-district, first-team all-league and received the Coaches' Award as a junior when she tallied 42 goals, 14 assists and 27 groundballs.
Maddy Sivilli is a five-year varsity starter in the midfield for John H. Glenn high school and a two-time team captain (2011 & 2012). Sivilli was All-Division in 2010 and was also named to the All-Galaxy Tournament Team. In 2011 she was named All-County, team MVP and US Lacrosse Academic All-American. Sivilli concluded the 2011 season with 56 goals, 19 assists, 15 caused turnovers, 45 groundballs and 45 draw controls. Aside from lacrosse, Sivilli was a two-time captain (2010 & 2011) and five-year varsity cross country runner. She was also a three-year member of the varsity winter track team.
Veronica Fiorino, a defender out of Reisterstown, Md., is a member of the McDonogh Varsity lacrosse team. At McDonogh, Fiorino was a two-time co-captain for both the JV soccer and lacrosse teams. In 2011 she tallied 64 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers and helped lead her team to an undefeated season for the second straight year (2010 & 2011).
A defender out of Houston, Texas, Holly Thomas is a three-year varsity lacrosse player for Episcopal high school and a member of the 2010 SPC (Southwest Preparatory Conference) championship team. While at Episcopal, Thomas has been a three-year varsity basketball player. Off the field, she is a member of the National Honors Society, the National Art Honors Society and was chosen as a US Lacrosse Academic All-American.
Davidson, which returns eight starters and 16 letterwinners from last year's 6-12 squad, gears up for the start of its 2012 season on Feb. 18, when it heads to Washington, D.C., to take on American at 12 p.m.
