Pagonis Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson junior cross country runner Demetrios Pagonis has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 7, the league office announced today.
The Westminister, Md., native holds a 3.84 GPA in Chemistry.
Pagonis' fifth-place finish at the Eye Opener Invitational at USC Upstate led the Wildcats to a one-point win (47-48) over Clemson and six other Division I teams. He finished the 8K in 25:58, which was a minute off the first-place time of Gilbert Kemboi (USC Upstate).
Other nominees included Appalachian State football player Sam Martin, The Citadel's cornerback Brandon McCladdie, Elon volleyball player Allison Johnson, Georgia Southern soccer player Witt Carlisle, UNCG goalkeeper Peyton Ford, and Chattanooga football player Mike Hammons.
Davidson will return to action Friday, Sept. 16 at the Clemson Invitational.
