DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team did not have the outcome they were hoping for in finishing out a season-opening five-game homestand on Sunday evening as the Wildcats dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting UNC Wilmington at Alumni Stadium.
Rachel Barnett (Raleigh, N.C.) had given the Wildcats (1-3-1) a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime. She nailed a shot that went to the top shelf in the 35th minute for her second goal of the year.
UNCW (2-1) came back though to get a pair of goals in the second half, with the game-winner coming in the 87th minute off a touch from Erin Pardini.
Davidson hits the road for the first time, going to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Tournament, Sept. 9-11.
GAME NOTES: It was the sixth time in the last seven years that both teams have faced each other ... Davidson closed out its five-game homestand dropping three straight 2-1 decisions ... the Wildcats fell to 2-6 all-time vs. the Seahawks ... both teams were nearly equal on shots, with UNCW holding a 14-13 advantage, but Davidson had a game-high six of its shots on goal.
Scoring Summary
34:39 DAV Rachel Barnett (2) (unassisted)
52:12 UNCW Kim Currie (unassisted)
