DAVIDSON, N.C. - The College Sporting News named senior John Behm to its FCS Preseason All-America First Team as the long snapper today.
Behm, who also plays outside linebacker for the Wildcats, has handled the long-snapping duties and been perfect for the last three years. He has been named first-team Preseason All-Pioneer League by Phil Steele's College Football Preview Magazine and to the College Football Performance Awards FCS Watch List for his play as a linebacker.
Behm ranked second on the team in tackles in 2010 with 69 and posted 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception, four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. He ranked 15th in the league in tackles and tied for ninth in tackles for loss.
Last season, Behm was one of 22 student-athletes in the country named to the AllState AFCA Good Works Team, honoring a group of players who stand out for the positive influence they have in their communities.
The 'Cats, who return 15 starters, including five 2010 All-Pioneer Football League selections, open the 2011 campaign at Georgetown Sept. 3. The team reports to preseason camp Aug. 7.
