Lacrosse Alums First In DAF's Annual Wildcat Top 21 Drive

DAVIDSON, N.C. - On behalf of our current student athletes, coaches, athletic staff, and legions of Wildcat fans everywhere, thank you for your support of Davidson's NCAA Division I athletic teams through your gifts to the Davidson Athletic Foundation. Former student athletes helped the Davidson Athletic Foundation surpass its goal for the 2011 fiscal year by $450,000, raising a total of $1.75 million!
For the first time, lacrosse won the Wildcat Top 21 with an astonishing 40.8% of former players making annual gifts to the Davidson Athletic Foundation! They just edged women's soccer who finished in a very close second place with 40.4% of former players making gifts. The baseball team, winners of the Wildcat Top 21 for five consecutive years, finished third.
Because we know you to be a competitive lot, we are pleased to share with you that Davidson exceeded its goal of 60% alumni participation in this year's Annual Fund, which includes gifts to the Davidson Athletic Foundation. Over 1600 former student athletes directed their annual fund gifts to athletics during the 2011 Annual Fund drive.

On behalf of our 400 plus athletes representing 21 intercollegiate sports, I thank you for your generosity and commitment to the Davidson Athletic Foundation. Their academic accolades and competitive triumphs are a direct result of the resources your gift allows Davidson to provide. Our students take great pride in everything they participate in and our athletes are no exception. They carry the Davidson logo on their chest as they compete against powerful odds once you weigh the superlative academic profile and supreme expectations we lay before them. Your gift allows each of our athletes to recognize the confidence and value you have in them and their collegiate pursuits – don't underestimate how important your support is for these students. Your willingness to make a gift, regardless of the amount, signals to each of them that you will stand with them on behalf of Davidson College as they reach for their goals.
