Mooney Named Valley League South Pitcher of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore right-handed pitcher Danny Mooney was named the South Pitcher of the Week by the Valley League for his performance against the River Bandits on June 14.
Mooney pitched eight shutout innings and struck out two, while walking just one and scattering five hits to lead his Rockbridge Rapids to a 2-0 win over the Bandits. For a complete list of Valley League pitchers of the week, visit valleyleaguebaseball.com.
Mooney is playing for the Rapids along with seniors Ryan Overcash and James Cerbie. Several other members of the Davidson baseball team are playing this summer as well.

Sophomore left fielder Forrest Brandt, sophomore LHP Justin Charles and sophomore RHP Jip Richards are playing in the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League. Charles and Richards are playing for the Waikiki Surfers, and Brandt is playing for the Oahu Paddlers.
Senior center fielder Drew Gadaire is playing for the North Adams Steeplecats in the NECBL.
Sophomore catcher Daniel Gerow is playing for the Greenbay Bullfrogs in the Northwoods League.

Senior Matt Ray is playing for the Monmouth Monarchs of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL).
Senior RHP Brian Russell and senior infielder Calvin Sigelbaum are playing for the Sag Harbor Whalers in the Hampton's League.
