Schmitt Wins 5000-Meter Run at VT Roanoke Twilight Qualifier

SALEM, Va. – Senior Charlie Schmitt won the 5000-meter run to lead a select Davidson men's track contingent at the Virginia Tech Roanoke Twilight Qualifier Thursday night at Roanoke College's Homer Bast Track Facility.
Schmitt led the way in the 5000m in 14:35.90, which ranks as the fourth-fastest 5K performance Davidson history.
Senior JinHan Song finished second in the 400-meter dash in 49.13, the 10th best Wildcat performance all-time, and junior Ian Tupper placed eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:39.0 (hand time).
Junior Ryan Hopkins competed in the 10,000-meter run, but did not finish.
The four Wildcats competed in hopes of surpassing NCAA regional qualifying standards, but were unable to do so.
