ATHENS, Ga. -- Just a weekend after his dominant performance at the 2011 CCSA Championships, junior Geoffrey Peitz shattered a second CCSA and school record in as many days, as competition concluded Sunday at the Bulldog Invitational on the campus of the University of Georgia.
After setting the conference and school record in the 100 fly yesterday, Peitz turned in a time of 1:46.09 in the 200 fly, over three seconds better than the former CCSA standard of 1:49.19 set by Gardner-Webb's Steven Caudill last season. He also set a new Davidson record in the event, his fourth of the season, by bettering sophomore Drew Onken's time of 1:49.69 from the 2010 CCSAs.
Senior Jessica Delgehausen finished third in the B-final of the 100 freestyle with a life-time best time of 52.91, and 2011 CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Year, Onken swam the third-best time in Davidson history in the 100 breaststroke time trial. With a time of 56.43, he just missed the college record of 56.41 set by Nate Ladner in 2008.
"I am proud of these athletes for staying in the pool and continuing to perform," 2011 CCSA Men's Coach of the Year John Young said. "Our program has great momentum at this time, and we are all excited to keep building on this season full of impressive accomplishments."
