Davidson Ends Northeast Trip With 6-1 Setback in M. Tennis

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Davidson finished its two-day trip to the Northeast with a 6-1 loss in men's tennis to Brown on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Wildcats, who also played at Harvard on Friday afternoon, fell to 2-5, while Brown continued its strong start by improving to 5-0.
After being swept in doubles action, Davidson then dropped five of its six singles matches for the five-point defeat.
Joe Schafer (Orchard Park, N.Y.) continued his strong sophomore campaign with 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Brandon Burke for the 'Cats lone team point. The sophomore is 5-2 in singles action, having won five of his last six matches.
Davidson returns home for a doubleheader on Feb. 19 when it takes on Lees-McRae at 9 a.m. and then later that afternoon plays UNC Asheville at 3 p.m.
