GREENVILLE, S.C. — Caroline Adams tallied 10 kills and eight blocks to lead Furman to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-9) Southern Conference volleyball victory over visiting Davidson Saturday night.
Furman improves to 20-8 overall and 13-3 in the SoCon, while Davidson drops to 15-13, 5-10 in the league.
The Paladins registered 11 blocks as a team as Davidson hit just .049 for the match with 24 kills in 103 attempts and 19 errors.
Caroline Brown led the Wildcats with eight kills, and Christine Perzinski posted six. Molly Crenshaw had 19 digs, and Ariel Ley collected 22 assists.
Adams was one of three Paladins with 10 kills along with Alexis Shafer and Kelly Kirby. Natalie Braun tallied 23 digs and 20 assists.
The first set featured five ties and two lead changes. Adams ignited a 7-1 run that turned a 6-6 tie into a 13-7 advantage. Davidson fought back to make the margin 24-21, but Christina Dorismond put down a Kirby set to give the Paladins a 1-0 lead in the match.
Adams posted five blocks in the second set, and Furman had six as a team to hold Davidson to a .033 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, the Paladins hit .571 to take the set 25-12. The third set saw more of the same as Davidson hit -.054 and lost the frame by a 25-9 margin.
The Wildcats finish off the regular season in a 1 p.m. match at Wofford Sunday.
