Hopkins Named SoCon Men's Runner of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson men's cross country junior Ryan Hopkins has been named the men's Southern Conference Runner of the Week for his performance during the weekend of Sept. 3 at the Covered Bridge Open, the league office announced Wednesday.
Hopkins (Greenwich, Conn.) completed the 6400m course at Appalachian State in 19 minutes, 44.59 seconds, finishing behind Evan Watchempino of North Carolina (19:38.14) and Patrick Crawford of High Point (19:42.66).
The competitive race included runners from Wake Forest, High Point and Florida State and conference rivals Elon and Appalachian State.
The Wildcats will return to action when they travel to the Clemson Invitational Sept. 17.
