Hopkins Earns Second SoCon Runner of the Week Award

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson's Ryan Hopkins has been honored as the Men's Southern Conference Runner of the Week for his school-record breaking performance at the Clemson Invitational Friday, the league office announced Wednesday.
Hopkins, a junior from Greenwich, Conn., finished second at the inaugural Clemson Invitational. His time of 24:20 on the 8K course was the fastest ever on any 8K course by a Davidson runner. Hopkins finished second overall behind Kenyan Gilbert Kemboi for USC Upstate. Hopkins led Davidson to the team championship over Charlotte and Clemson.
The 'Cats will split and compete in two meets Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2. One group will compete in the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational on Friday while a select group will compete in the Greater Louisville Cross Country Challenge Saturday.
