DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson running back Kenny Mantuo has been named the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.
The senior was also named FCS Honorable Mention Running Back Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Mantuo rushed for 181 yards on 34 carries and scored the game-winning touchdown in the Wildcats' 28-27 victory over conference opponent Campbell last Saturday. It was his fifth career game rushing for over 100 yards and the most for a Davidson player since classmate Justin Williams ran for 225 yards and four touchdowns at Butler in 2007.
Mantuo now has 1,686 career rushing yards, which places him fourth on the school's all-time list. He also moved into fifth on the school's career scoring list (156 points) and fifth on the career touchdown chart (26). He is the first Davidson player to earn Offensive Player of the Week accolades since Ryan Alexander earned the honor in 2007.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday when they host PFL?opponent Jacksonville at Smith Field at Richardson Stadium with kickoff set for 1 p.m. Eight of the 12 games between Davidson and Jacksonville have been decided by 10 points or less, including the last three contests.
