'Cats and Dolphins Tangle in Key NLC W. Lax Contest on Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson, playing at home for the first time since Mar. 27, will seek to hand Jacksonville its first league loss when the two squads battle on Saturday, Apr. 10 in a key National Lacrosse Conference game.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (5-7, 3-1 NLC), sitting in third place in the NLC, will host Jacksonville (5-6, 3-0 NLC) on Saturday, Apr. 10 at 1 p.m. in Richardson Stadium. The Dolphins are tied for first in the league, having scored wins over Detroit, Libery and Howard.
The Wildcats' three league wins have come against Howard, Presbyterian and Detroit, with their lone setback being a defeat to Longwood last month.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the first meeting between both schools as Jacksonville is in their first year of play for women's lacrosse.
Last Time Out...
... Davidson — In its second-to-last non-conference game of the season, Davidson dropped a 19-6 road contest at #5 Duke last Sunday afternoon.
Senior Haley Cook had her fifth four-point game of the season, netting a pair of goals to go along with a season-high two assists to pace Davidson. The senior's 33 points (29 goals/four assists) is second-best on the team.
Also scoring for Davidson was Keena Classen, Alanna Parker, Jen Crawford and Jenna Mugele with one goal each.
Between the pipes, Michelle Pav recorded a career-best 14 saves. She also caused a team-high three turnovers and added a new personal-best 11 groundballs. Davidson as a team had 19.
Lindsay Gilbride, who led Duke with four goals and six points (two assists), opened the game scoring back-to-back goals as the Blue Devils had a 5-0 lead after 15 minutes of play. Led lead would go to 12-3 at halftime.
Davidson held a 14-13 advantage in draw controls with Crawford and Parker combined for seven of the 'Cats 14.
... Jacksonville — The JU women's lacrosse team won its third-straight game and third National Lacrosse Conference contest last Saturday with a 20-5 victory over Howard.
The Dolphins jumped out to a 2-0 lead before rattling off six unanswered goals to take control of the game early on a windy day in Jacksonville.
Freshmen Cassie Campasano and Jocelyn Jamison led JU's offense with four goals and one assist apiece while sophomore Jessica Hotckiss added three points (1,2) to the effort. Goalie's Karli Tobin and Hannah Collins each played thirty minutes, making four and six saves respectively.
The Dolphins would head into halftime with a 14-4 advantage. The second frame saw two goals from Campasano and Jamison as the Dolphins outscored the Lady Bison, 7-1.
JU outshot Howard, 36-18, in the contest and dominated on the ground, picking up 13 more ground balls than the visitors (36-23).
