DAVIDSON, N.C. — Senior Haley Cook (Darien, Conn.) capped off an outstanding week with her second National Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week honor for games from April 19-25. The senior also won the award for the week of Feb. 22-28.
Cook celebrated Senior Day with her own career day by leading Davidson to a season-high 21 goals in a win over Liberty last Saturday. Assisting Davidson to a season-high 16 first-half goals, Cook netted all four of her goals in the first half to give her a new single-season career-best 35 goals. Those four goals came during an 11-minute stretch to open the game that saw the 'Cats race out to a 9-0 lead.
The senior picked up two of her four assists in the second half. Cook's 11 assists on the season are tied for tops on the team, while her 46 points (a career-high) are second-best on the squad.
The senior has had an outstanding four-year career that has seen her score 112 goals, good for fourth in the record books, while dishing out 29 assists. Cook's 141 points are fifth-most in the 'Cats' record book. She has also started all 59 of her games.
Cook and the Wildcats (7-8, 5-1 NLC) will head to the NLC Tournament this weekend, Apr. 30-May 2, in Farmville, Va. as the No. 2 seed. Longwood, which will be the top seed, is the host school.
