Cook Nabs Wildcats’ First NLC Player of the Week Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After leading the Wildcat lacrosse squad to their first league win and first win overall of the season, senior Haley Cook (Darien, Conn.) was named the National Lacrosse Conference's Player of the Week for games of Feb. 22-28.
Cook, a midfielder, led the way for Davidson (1-2, 1-0 NLC) in a pair of games last week, including the program's first-ever league win, a 15-12 victory against Detroit. She scored four goals against the Titans, including the game-winner at the 22:33 mark. She also collected four groundballs and caused five turnovers in the win.
In the Wildcats' 14-7 setback to Navy, Cook netted two more goals and tallied four draw controls.
For the week, the senior registered six goals on 13 shots, seven of them on goal. She added a four groundballs and five caused turnovers.
The Wildcats head to California next week where they will play Cal-Berkley, Mar. 2, and then Stanford, Mar. 4. Game times are set for 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. Davidson and Stanford played each other last year, with the Cardinal taking a 19-4 decision.
