Gavin McFarlin -- Assistant SID
DAVIDSON, N.C. — Head coach Greg Ashton has announced that eight scholar-athletes will join the Davidson program in August 2010 to kickoff their first collegiate soccer season as members of the Davidson women's soccer team.
The eight young women were part of Davidson's early decision admissions process and are Ashton's sixth recruiting class since taking the helm in 2004.
“The prospect of replacing the eight graduating seniors who had contributed so much to the success of the women's soccer program was somewhat overwhelming, however I'm extremely pleased to have this group of student-athletes join our program,” said Ashton, who is 73-42- 10 at Davidson and took the Wildcats to their first NCAA Tournament last year.
“Although they come from different parts of the country and different club programs, they bring high-level soccer experiences that we need in order for this program to continue to grow. They're all aware of the challenges they face in the academic environment here at Davidson and also the challenges that await them in the fiercely competitive Southern Conference.
