Davidson W. Soccer Honored For 16th Straight Year For Excellent Academic Success

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcat women's soccer squad was again honored for their outstanding academic success this past season as they were recently honored as a team as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
For the 16th consecutive year, Davidson earned the Women's College Team Academic Award from the NSCAA for the 2009-10 season. The program has won the award every year since the inception of it in 1996. The wildcats as a team had a 3.26 GPA and were one of 437 women's teams to earn the academic honor.
Leading the way academically for the 'Cats was the senior duo of Allison Drutchas and Callan Elswick. The pair were named to the first and second teams, respectively, on coSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District III Teams.
A total of 632 teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award. Of that total, 128 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
Davidson closed out the 2010 season with a 6-8-6 overall mark and 2-4-5 in SoCon play. It advanced to the SoCon Tournament, falling in the first round to Samford in penalty kicks.
