
Martin and Buttermore Honored with Weekly CCSA Awards

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Leading the Wildcat women's swimming and diving team to a victory over four CCSA foes this weekend, junior Lindsey Martin was named Women's Swimmer of the Week and senior Linnea Buttermore was honored as Women's co-Diver of the Week for meets competed Jan. 18-24, as announced today by the league office.
Martin won the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles and Buttermore swept the diving events, while setting a new school record on the 3-meter board, to pace the Wildcat women this past weekend as Davidson knocked off CCSA members Campbell, Georgia Southern, North Carolina A&T and Radford.
Martin won the 50 free with a time of 23.99, ahead of Georgia Southern's Courtney Martz (24.05). She was also victorious in the 100 free, touching in 52.38, and finished first in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.78. Martin anchored the winning 400 free relay squad that finished in 3:37.79. It is her third weekly CCSA honor this season.
On her senior day, Buttermore won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events with scores of 244.25 and 256.35, respectively. Her score in the 3-meter competition broke the Davidson record of 255.67 set by Liz Nugent on Jan. 22, 2000. It is the first weekly honor of the season for Buttermore.
McNamara won the 3-meter event with a CCSA-best 281.18 and placed second in the 1-meter diving with 253.28 points in Florida Gulf Coast's 194-94 win over Florida International to earn co-Diver of the Week awards.
Gardner-Webb's Steven Caudill was named CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to their first-ever victory over CCSA rival and two-time defending champion College of Charleston, 194-121. Caudill had four wins in the two day competition.
Also nominated for Men's Swimmer of the Week: Matt Sherrier (College of Charleston) and Zadok Issacs (Howard).
Also nominated for Women's Swimmer of the Week: Magda Kedracka (Campbell), Rachel Warkentin (Gardner-Webb), Vicky Cadge (Florida Gulf Coast) and Lauren Parr (Georgia Southern).
Also nominated for Women's Diver of the Week: Alden Lynch (Georgia Southern).
