
Davidson’s Red & Black Campaign Gearing Up for Football Season

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Paint Downtown Davidson Red & Black Campaign, which was started last football season, is kicking off the 2009 season with a whole new look. Coca-Cola is co-sponsoring the program alongside Davidson Athletics, and new benefits and package options have been added to increase value for both participating businesses and their customers.
The Red & Black Campaign allows for local Davidson businesses to join the Wildcats' team and be a part of the spirit that encompasses Davidson Athletics by choosing a “Paint it Red” or “Paint it Black” package. The goal of the campaign is to integrate Davidson Athletics onto Main Street while providing enjoyment for fans and customers alike. An obvious visibility will be the Davidson Football and Town of Davidson lamp post banners, which will line the “Exit 30,” Main Street and South Main Street areas (similar to the Christmas in Davidson Banners). These banners will be co-sponsored by the Town of Davidson and are made possible by the Red & Black Campaign.
Other package items include t-shirts, season tickets, a Coke Zero/Davidson Football tailgating kit (chair, cooler, koozies), and a reduced rate offering for men's basketball season tickets. Businesses can use these items for their own in-store promotions and customer satisfaction. The Red & Black Campaign aims to continue into the winter with a basketball package offering and basketball banners on Main Street (after Christmas). New additions include in-game promotions, in-store promotions (contestants register to compete for Universal Davidson Season Tickets and a touch-screen iPod), and the Red & Black Discount program. Participating sponsors will be eligible to offer a Red & Black discount to customers which will be published on the new Web site, in game programs, and the back of season ticket holders (“present this to receive your Red & Black discount”).
Merchants registering before August 10th will also be able to participate in the Meet the Wildcats Fan Day, a free event scheduled for August 15 from 1-3 on the Town Green featuring the Davidson Athletic fall sports teams (autographs, skills sessions), a Kids Zone, and a free raffle for items such as season tickets and autographed memorabilia.
