
M. Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision at No. 51 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Playing its second straight ranked opponent, the Davidson men's tennis team came up short in a 7-0 decision at No. 51 South Carolina on Saturday afternoon at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse.
Davidson (1-4) dropped all three doubles matches to start the match against the Gamecocks (6-1), with freshman Calum Gee and senior Scott Myers scoring the most game wins as they fell 8-4 to Diego Cubas and Ivan Machado.
The Gamecocks then swept through the singles matches, taking all seven matches in straight sets.
Tareq Alani saw his first action of the season at the No. 6 spot, suffering a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Thomas Stoddard.
Gee and Arie Hefter gave their opponents a run, as Gee won three games each in his two sets at No. 3, while Hefter played Machado tough in a 6-3, 6-4 setback at the No. 4 singles position.
Davidson returns to action for a mid-week home match against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.
