DAVIDSON, N.C. - Following a week in which he turned in a 3-0 record and earned 13 points, Davidson senior Sam O'Hair was named Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
The Alexandria, Va. native began the week at the Anderson Tri-Meet by recording his third pin of the season, dropping his opponent 2:24 into the first period. Later that night, he picked up a 5-4 decision over his opponent from Anderson.
Then on Sunday night, O'Hair celebrated his Senior Night by competing in his final home match for the Wildcats. He took a 13-4 major decision over The Citadel's Kelby Smith. He won his two scored matches on the week by a combined 18-8 count.
On the season, he has notched an 11-13 record at 184, earning 26 dual meet points and tying for second place on the team in conference victories.
O'Hair joins teammate Vitaly Radsky, who won the award the week of Dec. 12, as SoCon weekly award honorees this season for the Wildcats. He is the sixth Conference Wrestler of the Week award winner in Davidson wrestling history. The 'Cats are now one of just four schools with multiple winners on the year.
Davidson will wrap up its regular season this Sunday, Feb. 22 with a non-conference matchup against Duquesne, set to begin at 11 a.m. from Pittsburgh, Pa.
