Three Wildcats Named Academic All-PFL, 50 Named to Academic Honor Roll

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Seniors Myles Potter, Peter Bakke and Kirk Konert have been named first-team Academic All-Pioneer Football League, the league announced today.
In addition, 50 Wildcats out of a roster of 83, the highest percentage in the league (60 percent), were named to the league's fall academic honor roll. Dayton had the highest total with 69 players, followed by Butler with 56 and then Davidson.
To be nominated for Academic All-PFL, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale or higher and be a at least a sophomore in eligibility and academic standing. To be placed on the fall academic honor roll, a student-athlete must be on the official roster and post a 3.0 grade point average or better for the fall semester.
Potter capped his career by catching 34 passes for 386 yards and two touchdowns in 2008. His 80-yard touchdown reception against Jacksonville Sept. 27, was the longest for the Wildcats since 2003. Potter is a two-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District and a two-time FCS?ADA Academic All-Star selection and was named first-team Academic All-PFL in 2007.
Konert ranked fourth in the conference in receptions and third in receiving yards with 53 catches for 692 markers while leading the Wildcats with six receiving TDs. He also handled the majority of the punting duties for Davidson and averaged 37.1 yards a kick, placing 10 inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Konert was also named first-team Academic All-PFL in 2007 and earned All-PFL?honorable mention accolades in 2008.
Bakke ranked third in the league in tackles with 88 stops and added six tackles for loss, two interceptions, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. The linebacker was named All-PFL?in 2007.
