Davidson Places 23 on SoCon Fall Academic All-Conference Team

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Twenty-three Davidson student-athletes were named to the Southern Conference Fall Academic All-Conference team, as announced by the league office today.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the fall season and must have competed in at least one-half of their team's competitions during the recently-concluded fall campaign.
The Wildcat women's soccer team led the way with eight honorees, including sophomores Allison Drutchas and Callan Elswick, who both finished the fall semester with GPAs of above 3.91. Men's soccer had five student-athletes named to the team, followed by men's cross country with four, volleyball with three, and women's cross country, who had a pair honored.
A total of 292 student-athletes, representing all 12 Southern Conference institutions, were named to the team. The honorees, who participated in football, men's and women's cross country, volleyball and men's and women's soccer, averaged a 3.55 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
This is the seventh year that the Southern Conference has named an Academic All-Conference Team by season.
The league's women's soccer teams placed 71 student-athletes on the team with football adding 54. Wofford led all schools with 44 honorees, followed by Elon with 35, The Citadel with 26 and Furman and Samford with 25 each.
