Saari Takes 4th Place at RDG Intercollegiate; Davidson Finishes 8th

Final Results
FLORENCE, S.C. - Davidson's Michael Saari fired a final-round 71 to finish in fourth place in the season-opening Raines Development Group Intercollegiate, held at the Country Club of South Carolina. As a team, the Wildcats took home eighth position overall out of 18 teams participating.
Saari, who entered the final round in sixth place, finished the front nine with a four-under 33 on his way to a three-round total of 211, five-under par. The senior from Lilburn, Ga. finished behind a pair of golfers from Georgia Southern for the top spots out of the Southern Conference participants with his first career top-five performance.
As a team, Davidson turned the final 18 holes with a cumulative score of 295, giving them a tournament total of 877, good for 13-over par and their best team finish in two years.
Other top performances by Wildcat individuals included Jackson Taylor (220/T-39), who came in with the team's second-best finish in his collegiate debut, Bobby Urso (221/T-41), Adam Lewicki (228/T-69), and Christopher Rollins (234/T-84).
Georgia Southern shot a final-round 284 team score after posting 279 tallies over the first two rounds. The Eagle's final 22-under-par 842 total broke the old tournament record of 849 set by USC Aiken in 2005. William & Mary's Brent Paladino earned medalist honors with a record-setting 54-hole total of 14-under-par 202. He fired rounds of 70, 66, and 66 en route to breaking the old mark of 207 set by Ryan Gildersleeve of the University of South Alabama in 2002.
The 'Cats next be in action when they head down to Savannah, Ga. on Oct. 5-7 for the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia Southern.
