Daniel Hauffe Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson defensive lineman Daniel Hauffe has been named the Pioneer Football League's Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats' 20-16 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne last Saturday.
The junior posted a career-high 13 tackles, including five solo stops, and four were behind the line of scrimmage. He led a defense that recorded five takeaways while allowing 283 yards of total offense, including 72 in the first half.
Hauffe leads Davidson with 22 tackles this season, and five have been for loss. He was also credited with a fumble recovery in the season opener at UNC Pembroke.
It's the first PF honor for Hauffe and the first time Davidson has had a player receive the honor since current senior linebacker Peter Bakke was named Defensive Player of the Week after registering 20 tackles in a 44-32 victory at Butler Oct. 27, 2007.
The Wildcats are 1-1 on the season and have a week off before playing their home opener Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium against Jacksonville. It will also be Homecoming and the PFL opener for Davidson.
