Davidson Football Names Troy Stubbs Running Backs Coach

Stubbs comes to Davidson from the University of Louisville, where he served as an offensive graduate assistant last season. His responsibilities included working with the tight ends, opponent film breakdowns, opponent and self scouting reports and evaluating recruiting film.
The Cardinals ranked sixth in Division I FBS?in total offense last season and fourth in passing offense and placed first in the Big East in both categories.
“Troy is very enthusiastic and passionate about the game of football,” said Merritt. “Having been around one of the most potent offenses in recent NCAA?history, he will bring some creative and innovative ideas to the table. Based on his work and playing experience, Troy is going to make a wonderful addition to our program.”
Stubbs began his playing career as a wide receiver at the Air Force Academy in 1996-97 before serving a two-year church mission. He transferred to Alabama where he received a bachelor of science in commerce and business administration in December 2002 with a double major in international finance and Russian.
He worked four years at an investment firm in Memphis, Tenn., before getting into coaching at Louisville. He will earn his master's degree in sports administration from Louisville this summer.
