
Golf Remains Ninth at SoCon Championship

FLORENCE, S.C. – Davidson bettered its opening round score by one and remains in ninth place following 36 holes of the 2008 Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina.
After carding a 73 on day one, Michael Saari shot a disappointing eight-over 80, but still leads the Wildcats on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 31st. David Fowler fired the team's low round Tuesday and is one stroke back of Saari at 10-over par.
Other Davidson competitors include Adam Lewicki (T-39th / 155), Christopher Rollins (T-42nd / 159) and Ryan Crum (T-44th / 160).
Nationally-ranked Chattanooga remains in first place thanks to a second-round total of seven-under 281, nine strokes better than its 290 Sunday. The Mocs 36-hole score of five-under 571 is eight swings clear of College of Charleston and 15 in front of Furman.
Ben Rickett, who began today's second round in a tie for sixth, recorded a three-under 69 to climb atop the individual leaderboard. Including Rickett, all five of Chattanooga's individuals are inside the top 14 and within five strokes of the lead.
Final round play begins at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning with teams teeing off the first and 10th hole.
