Atias, Burns Post Wins at Irwin Belk Invitational on Senior Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- As the Davidson Wildcat women's track and field team hosted the Irwin Belk Invitational, seniors Megal Atias and Brenna Burns won individual events on senior day Saturday afternoon.
Fresh off setting a new school record in the steeplechase last weekend in Chapel Hill, Atias won the 2000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:18.61.
Burns won the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:14.47. Junior Emily King finished close behind in fourth with a time of 10:38.33.
Senior Amaka Obidegwu finished eighth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.68, while junior Kim Colley was ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.02.
Senior Colleen McKown and freshman Sarah Cline finished fifth and sixth in the 1,500 meters with times of 5:00.71 and 5:01.71, respectively. McKown also placed 10th in the 800 meters (2:27.45).
Junior Kennesia Martin finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet 8 1/2 inches (11.19 meters).
The Wildcats will now gear up for the Southern Conference championships on the campus of Western Carolina in Cullowhee this weekend.
