Several 'Cats Finish in Top-10 for M. Track & Field at Winthrop Invite

RUNNING EVENT RESULTS
FIELD EVENT RESULTS
ROCK HILL, S.C. — Five different individual Wildcats finished in the top-10 in either the running or field events to pace the Davidson men's track and field team at the 2008 Winthrop/Asics Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Leading Davidson in the running events was Jonathan Koch as he earned a fifth place finish in the 800 meter development run with a time of 2:202.08.
Then in the 800 meter invitational run, Brad Troxell and Peter Bruton earned top-10 finishes in the finals with times of 1:57.14 and 1:57.26. Troxell closed the finish line in eighth place and Bruton was right behind him with a ninth place finish.
Also having solid running days for Davidson was Quin Patton in the 1500 meter development (4:28.33) and Daniel Bush in the 1500 meter invitational (4:11.33). Burton finished just ahead of Bush in the same event with a 10th place showing and a time of 4:06.03.
Davidson's two relay teams in the 4x100 and 4x400 each closed the finish line in ninth and seventh, respectively.
Will Funderburg led the Wildcats in the field events with fourth and sixth place finishes in the shot put and the discus. He picked up a throw of 15.67 meters (51' 5") in the shot put, while then throwing the discus 44.78 meters (146' 11").
Coming in with a fourth place jump in the triple jump was Kwame Som-Pimpong as he jumped a distance of 13.21 meters (43' 4.25"). Som-Pimpong was part of the two Wildcat relays over the weekend as well.
Finishing out the Wildcats in the field events was Bryce Jones in the pole vault. Jones, a freshman, came in 11th when he had a team-best vault of 3.70 meters (12' 1.5") on the day.
Davidson will next compete at the Duke Invitational on Apr. 4 and then head to Greensboro, N.C. for a day of events at the Murray Neely Invite on Apr. 5.
