
Davidson W. Soccer Announces Class of 2012

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Head Women's Soccer Coach Greg Ashton has recently announced that seven scholar-athletes will join the Davidson program in August, 2008, representing four states and including two NSCAA High School Scholar-All Americans.
Jessie Baxa (Bloomfield Hills, MI), Christy Carry (Dallas, TX), Stephanie Gerow (TX), Mary Marshall Meredith (Virginia Beach, VA), Cliare Naisby (The Woodlands, TX), Elizabeth Underwood (Atlanta, GA) and Sophie Newsom (Atlanta, Ga.) will report to campus in mid-August to kick-off their first collegiate soccer season as members of the Davidson Women's Soccer team.
The six young women are Ashton's fourth recruiting class since taking the helm in 2004.
“In seeking to fill the shoes of our outgoing seniors, we have addressed some high priorities by position with this fine group of young women,” said Ashton. “They bring elite competitive experience, toughness and athleticism to a strong returning squad. Equally important, they are wonderful young women who will fit very well within the environment of high standards and accountability that have become a staple of our program. We're excited for the infusion of youth, a passion for Davidson and for the game as we ready for another successful year in the SoCon and beyond.”

Her academic experience at International Academy is a great preparation for the rigors of Davidson and it transfers to her on-field work-ethic as well. We look forward to Jessie's arrival and the development of a new goalkeeping corps in 2008.”
