'Cats Compete at 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Davidson men's track and field team made the short drive to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to compete in the 49er Classic on Saturday afternoon.

The team had a pair of Davidson Top 10 performances and several solid showings in the middle-distance events.

Junior Will Funderburg recorded a throw of 133 ft. 2 in. (40.60 meters) in the hammer, a Davidson Top 10 performance, while junior Alex Hoyt placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with a Davidson Top-10 performance of 15:01.54.

Sophomore Peter Bruton had the team's best time in both the 800 meters (1:56.79) and 1500 meters (4:03.83).

The Wildcats will return to action, competing at Winthrop University on March 28.
